The client brief was a image off Collette Dinnigan sitting in front of a Mirror display unit.

The Client said Matthew “I want something like this , but without the mirrors and to fit into this space, and I want to keep the antique table as it is a special piece to me”.

So I designed this bookcase that fits between two brick walls, made from a mix of solid French walnut and veneer.

There as two small doors at each side as well as a mix of adjustable shelves and fixed shelves, the door knobs are also made by hand from French walnut.

Our client is over the moon happy with their new display bookcase, and it looks like it has always been there.

Home Office Storage, Filing, Display unit

We built this home office from an empty space in the apartment of the Abian Apartments in the city. We made the zen style sliding doors from French Walnut and used fabric inserts to allow air flow. The sliding doors allow a divide between the office space and home space. The owner was very specific about needing filing cabinets and cupboard storage. We used French Walnut and created fun nooks in the centre for display objects.

We worked with Wrightson Stewart Interiors to design the space.

The owner is very happy with how the office space was created and we will be making a desk to complete the space.

We were asked to turn one of the bedroom spaces in the Abian Apartments into a walk-in dressing room. There needed to be a sensational space to display handbags and shoes and it needed to be protected by glass. We decided to add LED lighting to highlight the viewing. We used American Cherry Solid timber and veneer to create all the shelving, doors, sliding draws, jewelry pocket draws, hanging spaces and mirrored sliding doors. We also covered the interior column with 24 carat gold leaf which really adds a glamorous feel to the whole room.

The owner is over the moon with their new dressing space and highly complimented our level of detail.

We worked with the interior designers Wrightson Stewart Interiors on this project.

Our clients both work from home and wanted an office environment that had style and was welcoming for them everyday. The brief was to make it modern but also very simple and practical. We used a Satin Black Laminate for the top and edged and made drawers from Solid Spotted Gum. The leg design was a way to create something interesting and eye catching, two tone legs in the Satin Black Laminate and the Spotted Gum also. The desk allows alot of space and legroom for more than 2 people if required. The legs are definitely a feature of the office. Our clients love their new workspace.

Hutchinson Builders contracted Finer Finishers to help them restore the solid timber paneling in the New Adina Hotel lobby in the Brisbane Cbd.  Over the years the timber paneling has been badly neglected, sections removed and lost and some timber mouldings broken.

Finer Finishers worked closely with Hutchinson Builders and the Qld Heritage Dept and made all the timber mouldings by hand using solid Queensland Maple.

This type of work is what Finer Finishers enjoys recreating, so that many a visitor can enjoy the past well into the future, and feel the history of the building.

You can see the work in progress on our factory floor here.

This table was inspired by the sea, using hemp rope, solid red gum, and natural curves.
This table creates a beautiful flow and it does make a statement on the veranda, buy the sea or over looking a park, it works well for both. A glass top was added. This table is a real eye catcher.

Master Bedroom with elegance and style

This master bedroom brings functionality and elegance into one.  The feature wall separates the bedroom and ensuite and is made from spotted gum, creating an art piece in itself from the different shapes and shades of timber. The random use of grain gives a unique and spacious feel to the room.

The Art Deco dresser sits alongside the feature wall and adds elegance in every turn, the flowing curves are created out off solid timber, the sides have the Japanese rising sun made out off solid PNG Ebony, the drawers are also random designs with the base as a flowing curve. The timbers used in this piece include: Solid Qld Walnut, Solid South African, Bilinga, PNG Ebony, American Oak, with the handles in solid French Walnut.  The internals of the dresser are all American Oak.

The Headboard is custom made to fix around the small nib recess. It is also 70mm in thickness, with two forms off soft foam, so you rest your head and read comfortably in bed.

The Ensuite area is on the other side off the feature wall and opens to a wardrobe. Wanting a more high functional and industrial look, greys, black and stone colours were used. The doors are all push to open, the internals are all American Oak, to keep the flow of the timber.
The Vanity  basin is made from a bamboo with a slim line top, the grain flowing from the doors over the top section, the basin is of natural stone. The towel compartments are a black laminate to compliment the mixture of light grey tiles on the floor
All the features of this master bedroom and ensuite were  designed by Matthew, the owner of Finer Finishers.
